May 3, 2018

In December of last year, Nottingham had two very high-profile guests. Prince Harry and fiancée Meghan Markle visited the city and took time to meet and greet those waiting in the cold for a glimpse of them. Their big smiles, genuine nature and approachability instantly made them Nottingham’s sweethearts.

So, as one of the top wedding venues in Nottingham, it is only fitting that we mark 2018’s royal wedding in style. But what exactly would a wedding day fit for a Prince be like at one of the best boutique hotels in the city?

Well, while Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are tying the knot in Windsor, we will be inviting you to join us as we host a quintessentially British celebration of the bride and groom.

Arriving in Style:

With your glad rags on, you will be greeted by our welcoming team in the Great Room. To enhance your royal arrival, just like Harry and Meghan, you will have views of the castle – Nottingham Castle that is. You’ll also enjoy a refreshing glass of fine champagne while enjoying those beautiful views.

Traditional Afternoon Tea:

Who needs a bells and whistles wedding breakfast? We will have everything you could need for a thoroughly British celebration! Our traditional afternoon tea will more than fill you up and even have you feeling a tad nostalgic. Whether you prefer to take your tea in a Regency style drawing room or somewhere reminiscent of a vintage street party, a traditional cream tea always hits the spot.

Perfectly prepared sandwiches generously filled with the very best ingredients, fresh cakes and scones with rich velvety cream and deliciously sweet jams; what more could you want? The freshly-brewed tea will be flowing, and the bar will be open too, so you have all you could need at your fingertips.

Watch the Wedding:

From Nottingham to Windsor, with love. We will, of course, be televising the main event – so you get to enjoy all the glitz, the glam and the grandeur of St George’s Chapel, from the comfort of St James Hotel.

Our intimate setting and quality audio visual kit is ideal for all those special moments; you will be able to see the all-important dress, watch as Prince Harry’s face lights up when he spies his bride, and cheer right along with the crowds outside the chapel.

Mark the Occasion:

Once in a lifetime events such as these are worth making memories out of. So be sure to take plenty of pictures, take note of where you were when Ms Markle joined the royal family, and treat yourself to a thoroughly indulgent afternoon.  Just like the royal weddings of 1981 and 2011, you will no doubt remember exactly where and how you celebrated Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day in years to come.

The More, The Merrier:

Once you’ve enjoyed celebrating the Royal Wedding in style, you will be able to reminisce about your experience with friends and family, but while we expect you will have a wonderful time with us this May, make sure you don’t get so carried away you forget to ask how they celebrated! Better yet, tell them all about it before the big day and bring them along to share in the festivities.  There’s nothing like a wedding to bring people together!

Does this sound like the sort of day you could enjoy? Well, why not spoil yourself this summer and treat yourself to an afternoon fit for royalty. We are thrilled to invite you to afternoon tea at St James. Please, get in touch now and let us know if you’ll be joining us for the big day!
